What is a walnut solid wood panel?
A walnut panel is a wide board made by gluing walnut lamellas along their edges. It is walnut through its whole section, with no particleboard or MDF core. It can be sanded, oiled and refinished years later.
Look
Walnut is known for its dark brown tone and lively grain. Light and dark lamellas sit side by side in the same panel; that colour variation is part of walnut's natural look. An oil or lacquer finish brings the grain out further.
Finger-jointed or solid
- Finger-jointed: each lamella is made of shorter pieces joined end to end. The joints show as a thin line.
- Solid (full-length staves): each lamella is one piece from end to end. The surface looks calmer and more uniform.
Thicknesses
Typical thicknesses are 18 mm and 30 mm; 25 and 28 mm are sometimes available.
