What is an ash solid wood panel?
An ash panel is a wide board made by gluing ash lamellas along their edges. It is ash through its whole section, with no particleboard or MDF core. It can be sanded and refinished years later.
Look
Ash has a light tone, from near-white cream to light brown. The grain is long, straight and pronounced, with some crown (cathedral) figure. It suits projects that want a light surface with a clear grain.
Finger-jointed or solid
- Finger-jointed: each lamella is made of shorter pieces joined end to end. The joints show as a thin line.
- Solid (full-length staves): each lamella is one piece from end to end. The surface looks calmer and more uniform.
Thicknesses
Typical thicknesses are 18 mm and 30 mm; 25 and 28 mm are sometimes available.
